RELIEF FOR HAITI

Hi everyone. Yes, yes, I know I am two months behind but I promise you I am not gone. ;-)

First of all, I would not be me if I didn't post this:

Visit the American Redcross to donate to help with relief for Haiti. Please open your heart and send whatever you can. I have and will be donating through where I work and we are doing this throughout all of the coming week. Would you be willing to cut a lunch or two out or a dinner out here or there? Anything helps. I don't know anyone there and I haven't been there, but I want to help. Please, if you have been thinking of helping, let this be a place where you make that decision to do so. The Redcross is a safe place to donate!!!

PLEASE HELP THESE THE INNOCENTS WHO ARE HURT, HUNGRY, THIRSTY AND DYING.

Did you know that Hospice patients in Haiti have no medication and they are sufferring just waiting to die? My Father died in Hospice. Without the medication and attention these suffering paitents need, they will suffer great physical pain, and I can't imagine emotionally
what it could be like.

PLEASE HELP. WHATEVER YOU CAN GIVE WILL HELP.

THANK YOU.

With That Said!

I can't say how many times I have informed people that ESF products are outstanding. Safe and easy to use, there is a product for every project on your list from the smallest to the largests. Here is one that's pretty small and for a small child. I had fun doing this. I started with an antique rocker that I found. Cleaned it up and sanded it all and painted it up with ESF.

I will be moving as soon as I find the place I like - and can finance - and I'll be thrilled to begin by painting all the interior with ESF. I'll be safe and secure in knowing that neither me nor my guests or pets or family will be tainted by odorous toxins. I'm already visualizing it all. I will keep you posted.

My grand niece loves this rocker and my niece tell sme that she sits in it all the time. Licks it once in a while. Haaaaaaaaa....but no worries there. At least not from the paint. lol lol lol She has abused it as any two - year - old should for at least a year now and it's just as good as it was a year ago. Awwwwwwwwww...that's finer art to me!

It's simple to refer to ESF for all my projects whether they are paintings on canvas, home decor, murals, small projects; any project at all.

GUESS I'M JUMPIN' THE GUN...OR PUMPKIN...

This post is a little bit more of the decorative bend but it's fine for me!!!!

I am totally aware that it's not even Halloween yet, nor has Thanksgiving come and gone, but there I was; I had this large candle, a couple of nice brushes, and Earth Safe Finishes Perfect Paint, Colorants and Varnish. What can I say?

What a great gift for your hostess when you show up at the door for a holiday dinner. Just add a bow and you are a gracious guest!!! Even if my host or hostess has alergies, I am not going to harm them. You see, the candle has no scent and the ESF paints, well, you know the story. No VOC so no chance of setting off sneezes during the fabulous night ahead. You'll be appreciated like gifts under the tree.

OK, I'll get back to the holiday at hand....mmmmmmmmmmmm....what shall I do for Halloween.

WATER COLORS THAT ROCK!! HERE'S HOW

So I picked up Earth Safe Finishes Colorants and I created some 'watercolors' that were both light and breezy and deep and rich. Take a look at what you can do! It's easy and fun.

I was at Art Serve Gallery in Broward County, Florida for an unveling of a large wall piece in clay done by a local artist. It was a nice evening. The Broward Water Color Society had a representative there and she demonstrated something that was easy and fun.

1. Take a piece of watercolor paper and spray it down with water until it's really wet.

2. Lay down coffee filters that are torn in half (OR more if you choose). Spray again until wet

3. Untwine / unravel twine. Pull the pieces apart and lay them down on the paper - continue to
spray water until wet.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you get the design you want.

5. With art brush (I like a flat 1/2 inch for this) add ESF Colorants in the colors of your choice

6. Allow colors to spread out - manipulate with brush

7. Continue layering water and color

8. Place piece in sun to dry

9. Remove filter(s) and twine completely.

Have fun!

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

As far back as 20,000 and 25,000 years ago images were found in caves in France and Spain and artists then had to rely upon natural pigments from the earth. They used the juice of berries and fruits and saps and charcoal. They even used blood.

The Chinese, Egyptians, Hebrews, Greeks and Romans used oils as varnishes and red and yellow ochre, chalk and even ARSENIC were used. These substances were mixed with binders such as lime, Arabic, albumen, and beeswax.

Pretty toxic stuff even if the results were astonishing given to the proper artists. Unbelievable that we have come so far.

In the middle ages “paint” was used to coat ships and boats to protect it. It was used as a varnish. Today we have so many choices that we can actually separate our projects out from one another and either paint or varnish OR BOTH. We’ve come a long way baby.

Later, pigments were sometimes sold in their dry form for consumers to take home to mix there. Pigments come in many colors - white pigment is titanium dioxide, which conceals very well and black pigment is usually made from carbon. Earth Safe Finishes Perfect paint in white and black create the same results and you can add any one of our finishes to create a more in-depth look.

Start with the basics and work your way up and out. Grab a brush and have some fun. What do you think Rembrandt was thinking when he painted the image above?
There is no reason the proper artist couldn't paint with this intensity by using ESF products.
No reason at all. AND IT'S SAFE FOR YOU AND THE EARTH. Too bad the Masters didn't have ESF!!!!!!

PAINT ON ANYTHING!!!!

Interestingly enough, you can put art onto just about anything. There is no law in the universe that states that “art” must be on a canvas or paper. I adore changing things into other things; refurbishing. It’s fun, it’s practical and it can challenge your creativity for those times when you do paint on canvas and paper.

There was nothing wrong with these leather sandals but the leather was like butta’ and I couldn’t help myself. I just had to paint them. I enjoyed making them into “wearable art” and have had some great ideas come out of this for myself. I will be putting that onto other surfaces.

Using ESF products, specifically, Perfect Paint and Varnish, these shoes are still as soft and supple as they ever were. They are water resistant and perfectly safe for my little tootsies.
Try painting on something you like for it's quality and give it some creativity!!!!
